HIIT

High Intensity Interval Training

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) is an exercise strategy that is intended to improve performance with short training sessions. A HIIT session involves a warm-up period, several short, maximum-intensity efforts separated by moderate recovery intervals, and a cool down period. The period of alternating effort and recovery intervals typically lasts a total of 30 minutes. Studies have shown this method to be more effective at burning fat and maintaining, or building, muscle mass than high-volume, lower intensity aerobic work-outs.

This type of training is not for everyone but when used correctly, with a client of high level motivation, it can be a very effective and efficient method.

We use HIIT (if the client is capable) during our personal training and boot camp sessions at Reach Fitness Training.
