Complex Training - Complex training is a form of sports training that integrates strength training, plyometrics and sport-specific movement to create functional strength. It consists of an intense strength exercise proceeded immediately by a plyometric exercise. This form of training activates the nervous system and fast twitch muscle fibers at the same time. The strength exercise will activate the fast twitch muscle fibers (responsible for explosive power). The plyometric exercise stresses the muscle fibers that have been activated by the strength training exercise. During this activated state, the muscles have a tremendous ability to adapt. This method of training can teach slow twitch muscle fibers (used for muscular endurance) to perform like fast twitch fibers. As complicated as this method of training may sound it is actually quite usable and effective amongst a wide variety of exercisers.
