Types of Personal Training
Resistance Training (Weight Training)
Resistance training is a form of strength training
in which each effort is performed against a specific
opposing force generated by resistance (i.e. resistance
to being pushed, squeezed, stretched or bent). Exercises
are isotonic if a body part is moving against the force.
Exercises are isometric if a body part is holding still
against the force. Resistance exercise is used to develop
the strength and size of skeletal muscles. Properly
performed, resistance training can provide significant
functional benefits and improvement in overall health
and well-being.
It is documented that the increase of muscle mass,
do to resistance training, increases the speed of ones
metabolism. Simply put, increased muscle mass will burn
calories while one goes about their everyday life. Bonus!
HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training
High intenstity interval training is an exercise strategy
that is intended to improve performance with short training
sessions.
A HIIT session involves a warm-up period, several short,
maximum-intensity efforts separated by moderate recovery
intervals, and a cool down period. The period of alternating
effort and recovery intervals typically lasts a total
of 30 minutes.
Studies have shown this method to be more effective
at burning fat and maintaining, or building, muscle
mass than high-volume, lower intensity aerobic work-outs.
Cardio Kickboxing and Kickboxing Training
The techniques used during the classes using conventional
training pads are based on kickboxing techniques which
provide both resistance and cardio vascular benefits
to its participants. This form of workout is becoming
evermore popular as people are realizing the benefits
(both physical and mental) of certain martial arts training
techniques. In addition to a great workout it is a highly
efficient way of relieving stress and having fun.
Bootcamp workouts are efficient because you work your
entire body (heart and muscles) by going from one exercise
to another with no rest. The workouts involve calisthenics
like pushups, jumping jacks, crunches and other body
weight exercises...the difference lies in the intensity.
In bootcamp, your challenge is to take your body to
its limit. You work, you sweat and, best of all, you
burn calories like crazy.
Today’s commonly used workout techniques are
often blamed for not providing a stimulating and sustainable
exercise experience. The introduction of kickboxing
into your training will provide you with new goals and
challenges. Going to Kickboxing Bootcamp and knowing
that you will learn something new at every session is
a great way to find value in your training.
Fight for Fitness Bootcamps
are held in the spring and summer months and are subject
to changes based on enrollment. By using the spectacular
terrain in Vancouver we provide an intense yet fun alternative
to hitting the gym.
